When You Deactivate Your Facebook Account

When You Deactivate Your Facebook Account, I returned home from a lovely afternoon stroll with Ryland to find my Mac asking me to visit to Facebook. Amusing I thought, as I never usually log out. I attempted to visit only to be welcomed by 'Account Disabled'.

When You Deactivate Your Facebook Account

I clicked through to see why:

Phony accounts are a violation of our Declaration of Rights and Duties. All accounts should comply with the following policies:

  • You must supply your genuine given name and surname. Impersonating anyone or anything is restricted.

  • You are not permitted to produce several accounts that exist solely for the usage of Facebook Platform applications.

  • It is an offense of Facebook policy to keep more than one account on the website.

  • Profiles (timelines) produced to represent stars, pets, ideas, or inanimate objects are strictly forbidden.

  • Profiles (timelines) developed for the function of spamming or pestering others are strictly restricted.

People on Facebook wish to interact with their genuine good friends and individuals they know in the real world. Because fake accounts can damage the integrity of this environment, they are not allowed to stay on the website.

It appears that finally Facebook are actially starting to implement their policy about numerous accounts and phony profile names. The problem is-- my name Di Coke is real, and I just have one Facebook account! And it's not the abbreviation that's the issue, as their policy states: Nicknames can be used as a very first or middle name if they're a variation of your real very first or last name (like Bob instead of Robert).

So what happened? Well, I believe it's one of 2 things-- either somebody has reported my account as being fake, or Facebook are having a clampdown on making use of brand. In any case, I deserved a warning first, prior to they disabled my account and removed my SuperLucky fan page. In addition to that, I can't access the 4 pages I'm an Administrator on-- and nobody is able to call me through Facebook. As a Blog Writer and Social Media Supervisor, this is a major blow. It's been three hours since they disabled my account and I hope this is sorted ASAP. Until then, if you have to, you can contact me through Twitter or email.

And to those of you reading this who have two Facebook accounts or use comping nicknames-- take this as a caution! If your account gets handicapped you'll have to upload ID revealing your genuine name to reactivate it, and I do not believe a number of you have passports with the name 'Lucky MSE Turnips' on do you?!
