Anyone with a Facebook account has the ability to set up and utilize a Secret Group. This is not exclusive or available through Business Pages, but is a great resource especially for small companies that do not utilize tools like Salesforce, Yammer, or BaseCamp for callaboration, coordinating schedules, and sharing marketing concepts.

There are three kinds of Secret Groups:

  • Public: anyone can see your Group and discover it in search

  • Closed: anybody can see your group, but just members can see and make posts

  • Secret: just members can see and make posts



Secret Group Security.

  • Secret Groups are not indexed by Google.

  • If someone has the URL to your Secret Group they can not gain access without being welcomed.

  • If your Secret Group URL is published in another Secret Group, the URL is still not visible or available.


Note: You will get alerts to your personal News Feed, but just you will have the ability to see them, not your Pals.

Developing a Secret Group.

You must first have a personal Facebook account to develop a Secret Group:.

  • Go to http://facebook.com/groups.

  • Click Produce Group.

  • Name your Group and choose your icon from the fall menu.

  • Add members to your Trick Group (you need to be friends with them to add to the group); include them to the member box.

  • If you wish to include members who are not your pals, develop the Group as 'Closed' first, then change the Group setting to Secret.

  • Select your Personal privacy Setting and click Produce.

Remember your Group MUST be Closed if you are going to include members you are not pals with.

Select your Trick Group icon (this is optional).

Keep in mind to switch your Group Setting from 'Closed" to "Secret" if you have invited members that you are not friends with in the previous action.

Prior to you start using your new Trick Group we would recommend that you check your Settings. The Settings icon is situated on the right side of your new feed under the images.

Your Trick Group is now prepared for private usage with your members. Start sharing photos, e-mail addresses, and working together on jobs.
