By default, Facebook all too often makes photos and other product you publish on the social media public, meaning anybody can see it. So your big obstacle with sharing Facebook pictures is making sure you limit who can see them.
Facebook changed its privacy settings in a major redesign in 2011. The new privacy settings provide Facebook users more granular control over who gets to see what, however they also are a bit more complex and can be difficult to decipher.
Any image that you're tagged in "belongs" to somebody else. Unless it's a picture of you that you tagged yourself in.
If it's a photo of you that you took and tagged yourself in, you "own" the photo, and are therefore in charge of its personal privacy settings. You can select "Only Me" from the drown down menu on the image, like so:
Photos that others have tagged you in will stay public, even if you get rid of the tag from that image Whoever uploaded the image that your tagged in "owns" that image.
To get rid of a tag, click the drop down arrow at the top of the post/ photo and click "Get rid of Tag":

You can also alter your timeline personal privacy settings. These are mine:
Go to settings from the fall menu:
Then select "Timeline and Tagging".
You'll have the ability to manage exactly what can be published on your timeline, and if you see somebody has actually tagged a photo of you, you can remove the tag and choose to conceal it from your timeline.
Facebook will alert you to anyone who's tagged you in anything on your actual timeline, at the bottom right of your cover picture.
In summary, only your own content can be made personal. Anything you have actually been tagged in by others will be public - but you have the choice to hide this content from your timeline.
