Facebook Private Photos

Putting photos on Facebook is simple; not so simple is keeping all those Facebook pictures personal, "Facebook Private Photos".

Keep an eye out for "Public" by Default

By default, Facebook all too typically makes pictures and other product you post on the social network public, meaning anybody can see it. So your huge challenge with sharing Facebook images is ensuring you restrict who can see them.

Facebook altered its personal privacy settings in a significant redesign in 2011. The new personal privacy settings offer Facebook users more granular control over who gets to see what, however they likewise are a bit more complex and can be difficult to decipher.

Any photo that you're tagged in "belongs" to somebody else. Unless it's an image of you that you tagged yourself in.

If it's a picture of you that you took and tagged yourself in, you "own" the image, and are for that reason in charge of its personal privacy settings. You can pick "Only Me" from the drown down menu on the picture, thus:

Images that others have tagged you in will stay public, even if you get rid of the tag from that image Whoever published the image that your tagged in "owns" that picture.

To get rid of a tag, click the drop down arrow at the top of the post/ picture and click "Remove Tag":

You'll get this notice though:

You can also alter your timeline personal privacy settings. These are mine:

Go to settings from the drop down menu:

Then choose "Timeline and Tagging".

You'll be able to control exactly what can be posted on your timeline, and if you see somebody has tagged a photo of you, you can get rid of the tag and opt to hide it from your timeline.

Facebook will alert you to anybody who's tagged you in anything on your real timeline, at the bottom right of your cover photo.

In summary, just your own material can be made private. Anything you've been tagged in by others will be public - however you have the alternative to hide this content from your timeline.
